Forging

Forging is a manufacturing process that involves the shaping of metal through the application of pressure and heat. In this process, a metal workpiece is heated to a temperature that makes it easier to shape, and then it is subjected to compressive forces using a hammer, press or other forging equipment to form the desired shape.

There are several types of forging techniques

01Open Die Forging

This method uses flat dies with no enclosed impression to shape the metal. The metal workpiece is repeatedly hammered until it reaches the desired shape.

02Closed Die Forging

In this method, the metal workpiece is placed between two dies with a pre-made impression. The dies are then pressed together to shape the metal.

03Seamless Ring Forging

Shaping of a cylindrical workpiece into a ring shape. The metal is placed on a mandrel, and a hammer or press is used to shape the metal into a ring.

The benefits of forging

Forging is used to produce a wide variety of parts, including gears, crankshafts, connecting rods, and other components for use in heavy machinery, automobiles, and aircraft. include improved strength and durability of the final product due to the grain structure and the absence of internal voids, as well as better dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
